At a June gathering of the Future Ambition Board Climate and Nature group, members of the FAB anchor organisations reaffirmed their shared commitment to supporting informed action on the climate and nature crisis. One action taken was to pledge to host screenings of the National Emergency Briefing. This collective commitment reflects our belief that addressing these challenges requires collaboration, open dialogue and a shared understanding of the evidence.
We are now pleased to announce that the first screening will be offered by the University of Bath and take place on Tuesday 15 July, from 6.30pm, and we warmly invite colleagues, partners and members of the wider community to join us.
Organised by University of Bath research groups – the Centre for 21st Century Public Health (C21PH), the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations (CAST), Sustainable Bath and the Institute for Sustainability – the event will bring together students, staff and the local community to engage with the latest expert-led evidence on the climate and nature emergency and the implications for society.
Following the screening, attendees will be invited to take part in a facilitated discussion exploring the issues raised in the film and what they mean for our region, organisations and communities. We are delighted that Professor Lorraine Whitmarsh, who served as an expert advisor to the film, will contribute to the discussion, helping to unpack the evidence and encourage meaningful conversation about the role we can all play in responding to these interconnected challenges.
The University and the FAB is particularly keen to welcome representatives from local organisations, businesses, charities, public sector bodies and community groups, alongside local elected representatives and decision-makers. By bringing together a diverse range of voices, we hope to strengthen collaboration and identify opportunities for collective action across Bath and the wider region.
